The birth of the Dark Starz!

Well, it's time to write yet another blog that no one will likely read. This one will chronicle my attempts to play the online game OGame.

I found OGame during my hiatus from WoW -- I basically got bored waiting for the next expansion. OGame is free, and appears to not be hugely time-consuming (although the jury is still out on that one). Prior to WoW, I played Eve-online, and while it was really nice to look at, I got bored there as well. I really missed prefer the strategic angles and empire building instead of the blowin' up stuff parts. So OGame seems right up my alley.

I ended up on the US servers instead of the general org site -- not sure why, but like Eve, I think this might be a game that doesn't click for the typical american, so I'm hoping I'll have a better shot at finding abandoned planets for plunder!

The downside is that the newest universe is a double-speed universe and I felt like I needed to learn the ropes at a slower speed, so I went with the next-to-youngest universe, #4. After logging in, I discovered a LOT of company: 2 strong neighbors, one idle, and 3 on vacation -- it looks like it might be a bit more crowded than I expected.

But I'm off on my initial building spree, heading towards a small cargo (which appears the be the standard "quick start"). More when I know more!
